2011年アメリカドラマのシーズンを振り返るシリーズ、3回目として去年（下のリンクを参照）と同じように各局の継続／更新状況をまとめておきます。昨年の記事はこちら。
まずは、シーズン別全体の更新状況です。といっても、ちょっとまだ正確でない部分もありますが。

えー、まずシーズン6のところが2つとも継続になっていますが、実は片方の “Rules of Engagement” はCBSからの正式発表がまだありません。アップフロントでも「未定」と言われていたようです。なので、9月からのラインナップには入っていないもののミッドシーズンあたりで復活する可能性もなきにしもあらず……ということで、一応「継続」としてカウントしました。
それから、シーズン3の “Cougar Town” ですが、これはABCからケーブル局に移籍して継続されるので「継続」に入れました。CWの “The LA Complex” はアップフロントでの発表に入っていなかったので、こちらはキャンセルだろうなと思って「終了」に入れています。ただしこれはカナダで制作されている番組で、本国ではシーズン2の制作が決定しているらしいんですよね。なので、どうするか迷ったのですが「米国内ではもう放送されないだろう」ということで終了扱いにさせていただきました。LA Complex さん、ごめん！
というわけで、今季の新作ドラマ44本のうち継続は15本で、生存率は34.09%です。LAさんを「継続」にカウントすると、生存率は36.36%になります。全体の生存率は61.29%、LAさんを「継続」とすると62.37%です。
さて、2年生より上は終了が少ないのでパーセンテージは省略します。で、終了ドラマの顔ぶれを見てみますと、Chuck (S5)、Desperate Housewives (S8)、House (S8)、One Tree Hill (S9) の4本はシリーズ完結です。つまり、今季の開始時点またはシーズン中に「このシーズンで終了する」ことが宣言されて終了したわけです。House の終了が発表されたのは今年に入ってからでしたが、主役のヒュー・ローリーはそれ以前から「ドラマはもう止める」と言っていたように記憶しています。
そうではなく局側からキャンセルされた作品はというと、シーズン2の Breaking in と Harry’s Law、シーズン10の CSI:Miami、この3本だけでした。

長寿番組が多い一方で、新番組の成績の悪さが気になります。既存番組の人気が高いから新人の入る余地がないのか、それとも新人の成績が悪いから古株をなかなか切れないのか？ Unforgettable はキャンセルですが、ケーブルに移籍する可能性があるとかないとか。

Breaking in は、昨年キャンセルされた後に復活し、今年またキャンセルになりました。House が終了して、ドラマの中では Bones が最年長になりますね。で、Fringe は次が最終シーズンということで、局の「顔」になりそうな次世代ドラマがあまり育っていない印象。

長寿ドラマのSVUが年を重ねる一方で、次世代がまったく育っていませんね。Harry’s Law がキャンセルされ、2010年開始のドラマは全滅になりました。
